The department recognizes the right of the public to be fully and accurately informed on all matters of public safety and that the news media is responsible for providing this information to the public. The department shall respond to all media inquiries in a timely and professional manner. The Rome Police Department’s goal is to maintain a relationship with the members of the news media and citizenry in general that is built on trust, cooperation and mutual respect, and one which will generate the correct flow of information between the department, the public and the news media.
The Assistant Chief of Police, Debbie Burnett, serves as the departments Public Information Officer. The P.I.O. is responsible for dissemination of news and information to the media and the public. Media releases or public service announcements are disseminated as needed.
